Emanuel’s incredible longevity is the result of hard work!

39! FIVB Hero Emanuel Rego is one of the oldest and most experienced players in the tour. In his 18 years pounding the sand, he has been enormously successful in the World Tour. And his amazing energy shows no signs of weakening, as he is looking back on one of the best years of his career: voted Best Player in 2011, he won his tenth World Tour title and third World Championship playing with fellow FIVB Hero Alison Cerutti at his side. As the new season is about to kick off, he’s still hungry for more! This kind of long-term success takes a lot more work than we could ever imagine. Being in top physical shape is an indispensable part of the job, so Emanuel trains hard all the time to prepare for the tough competition this season. If you’re curious, at almost 39-years-old his body fat percentage is a mere 6.8%. Not bad, right? Emanuel is concentrating on his fifth (!) appearance at the Summer Olympics and is determined as ever to win another medal. With his unique combination of experience, a young mind and spirit and brilliant condition, you’d be very wrong to think he won’t succeed!
