After an unfortunate incident in the opening tournament of SWATCH World Tour in Brasilia two weeks ago, when a deep cut to his arm forced him to retire from the competition, FIVB Hero Alison Cerutti is back and ready to make history.
The Brazilian star nearing his 500th career victory and hopes to achieve that mark together with partner Emanuel Rego in the first Grand Slam of the season this weekend in Shanghai.
Alison celebrated but didn’t forget his partner: “I’m surprised to be reaching this mark, because I thought my number of victories was lower. Being able to complete 500 victories at 26 years old is an honour for me. When I started out, I never imagined I would reach a number like this. It is a very important professional achievement. I have at my side Emanuel, who has over 1800 victories in his career, and guys like him, Ricardo and Marcio, who have incredible achievements in volleyball, must be always revered.”
