At the beautiful Waldbühne arena, the men’s competition saw many surprising eliminations. The teams had to fight not only with their opponents, but also with difficult conditions. Due to the rainy and windy weather, the world attempt to set up a record with 20.000 spectators during the men’s final fell through.

However, one team didn’t let the weather affect them at all. In the semifinal Alison and Emanuel played against Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil from the Netherlands. Against the strong Dutch, the Brazilians gave a flawless performance. Alison’s huge block caused lots of problems on the other side. In the end, the World Champions clinched a convincing win 2-0 (21-17, 21-18).

The gold medal match was a rematch of Rome and Gstaad, the previous two events. In both those events, Emanuel and Alison endured tough losses against Gibb and Rosenthal. The Brazilian FIVB Heroes knew they had to play their best – and they did just that.

In an intense match over three sets, both teams played some great beach volleyball. But once again, it was the human wall – Alison and Emanuel’s fantastic defensive play – that made the difference .

“The way we started the match, we were very focused”, Emanuel said and continued, “They played very well and were very consistent and Alison and I tried to break this concentration.”

Now the FIVB Heroes move on to their last tour stop before London. At the legendary Grand Slam in Klagenfurt, Austria the teams have their last chance to get ready for the most important event this year.
