Once again, the attention is likely to be focused on the rivalry between the two dominant teams at present. FIVB Heroes Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego from Brazil and the Americans Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser want to leave their mark in the Swiss Alps. Last year at the same place, both teams met in the final. Todd and Phil will have revenge on their minds, having come off second best back then. Both teams have already won gold medals this summer and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them on the podium again.
But not only the Americans and Brazilians know how to bump, set and spike the Mikasa. Our three Italian FIVB Heroes will try to showcase their qualities as well.
Paolo Nicolai has played a great season so far, culminating in a silver medal in Beijing. With his partner Daniele Lupo he’ll be aiming to make another run for the podium on Sunday.
Last but not least, the second Italian team Matteo and Paolo Ingrosso will make their appearance in Gstaad. After a strong performance in Rome lately, the twins are candidates to cause an upset and unsettle the big teams.
