FIVB Beach Heroines gear up for the Berlin Grand Slam

The German fans had to wait four years to see another Swatch World Tour event held in their country. Now that it’s there, they are lucky to witness the best female teams in the world.

The Olympic Champions Kerri Walsh and Misty-May Treanor  from the United States are not attending the Grand Slam this year. They are preparing for the Olympics.

Jennifer Kessy and April Ross the second FIVB Heroes team from the US. Jen and April have already won a couple of medals this summer and want to add two more. The same applies for big rivals Juliana Felisberta and Larissa Franca from Brazil.

The battle between the US and Brazil is completed by Talita Antunes and Maria Elisa. The Brazilians had a phenomenal start into this summer and are two of the shining stars on the tour.

Xue Chen and Zhang Xi finished on the podium already four times – nobody has more. Nevertheless, the Chinese girls is still hungry and won’t give their number one seed up easily.

Trying to keep the medals in Europe will be Italians Marta Menegatti and Cicolari as well as Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig from Germany. Laura and Sara already look forward to a huge crowd supporting them. At the men’s final, up to 20.000 spectators are expected – a new beachvolleyball record.
