Dami Bakare with Great Britain will host Pool A at this beautiful, historic venue and will make the most of their home advantage. Among his opponents is a mix of experience and the power of youth: Team Italy, which can rely on their rock Cristian Savani. Poland and Argentina, meanwhile, are just as ambitious as their young leaders Bartosz Kurek and Facundo Conte. And Tsvetan Sokolov of Bulgaria and Australia’s Igor Yudin enter the Olympics hungry for medals, too!
Pool B is dominated by world #1 and reigning World Champions Brazil as well as the defending Olympic Champions, Team USA. The legendary duo of Murilo and Clayton Stanley will be accompanied by Germany’s star Georg Grozer, who has been making his national team the sensation of the season so far. FIVB world ranking runners-up Russia with Maxim Mikhaylov and European Champions Serbia with Sasa Starovic are taking their long-lasting derby onto the Olympic stage at Earls Court, while Team Tunisia and Noureddine Hefaiedh won’t be pushovers either!
