In 2005, FIVB Hero Kim started her career in the Korean national league at just 16 years old. In four seasons, she won three titles and was awarded finals MVP each time.
Next, Kim was drawn to Japan to play for JT Marvelous. Once there, she absolutely dominated the league and draw attention of the European top clubs.
Currently, the 24-year-old wing spiker plays for Fenerbahce Istanbul. With the Turkish top club she won the Champions League in her very first year in Europe, her biggest success so far. More than that, it was Kim who bore the brunt for her team. She was chosen Best Scorer and Most Valuable Player of the Champions League.
Due to her height and power at the net, Kim is often compared to Russian FIVB Olympic Hero Ekaterina Gamova. Both share a very similar style of playing, which has earned Kim the nickname “The Asian Gamova”.
Kim’s ability to score against every kind of block also helped Korea to make it to the Olympics. At the qualifier in Japan, no team could stop her. She finished as top scorer of the tournament by quite a margin. More than that, the Asian Gamova left the real one behind – Ekaterina scored the second most points.
Many volleyball experts expect Kim to become the shining star of her generation. So far, her career is very promising and we can expect a lot to come in the future from the Korean.
