Giba wins his first tournament with Bolivar

Six teams took part: hosts Bolivar and Buenos Aires Unidos, the Canucks from Canada, Irvine from USA, the Toray Arrows from Japan and Súper Imperatriz from Brazil.

It was a great tournament for Giba who was one of the best scorers in every match and perfect preparation for the Argentinean League starting in November. Bolivar easily won 3-0 the first match against the Canucks, lost 1-3 against Toray Arrows and overcame Buenos Aires Unidos 3-2 in an exciting semifinal in which the Brazilian star earned 17 points.

The final match against Imperatriz was really entertaining. Bolivar won a very even first set (30-28) with two spectacular aces from Giba and won the second 25-15. In the third set Bolivar came from behind (12-16) to regain control of the game and Giba scored the final point to pick up the set (25-22) and the victory.

“I’m very happy to win and start my time with my new team in a positive fashion. The League begins in November and I need to continue to play and improve all the time”, said the FIVB Hero after winning the tournament.

It was a great achievement for Giba and we hope there will be many more!
