Together with her husband Casey Jennings, Kerri shared a secret about the Olympic Games with the rest of the world: “When I was throwing my body around fearlessly and going for gold for our country, I was pregnant, and today I’m 11 weeks pregnant.”
The new arrival to the family will be Kerri’s and Casey’s third child, as they already have two beautiful boys: Joey (3) and Sundance (2). The 34-year-old athlete and mom also revealed she realised something was different in London: “I’m a pretty happy girl and I was unreasonably moody. I thought it could have been the stress of the Games, and travel kind of throws your schedule off, but I knew. At some point, you’re late and then you start feeling something. And I definitely started feeling something in London.”
Walsh and her husband decided to try for a third baby before the Olympics, but she didn’t expect it to happen so fast. Now our FIVB Hero will take care of herself, as this is an important time in her pregnancy. The Olympic champion is happy and excited about this new chapter in her life, but admits to some unpleasant side effects: “This little one is kicking my butt! The first two were pretty easy, but with this one, I’m sick every day, I’ve got some awesome acne, I just feel different.”
But if you think Walsh is ready to settle down after her baby is born, you could not be more wrong. Kerri has her eyes firmly set on one more goal in her career: winning the gold medal in Rio at the 2016 Olympic Games. “I want it. I feel like I have so much more to learn, so much more to accomplish. I’m planning on coming back stronger and smarter.”
