Maxim Mikhaylov becomes captain of Zenit

Mikhaylov took over the captain’s armband from his teammate Alexander Volkov, who has to miss out on half of the season due to a knee injury. But the role is not quite new for Maxim: he has had to take on the duties of captain several times before both in his club and his national team when necessary.

As the new official captain of Zenit he will lead his team through a rich and tough club season: Zenit is taking part in both Russian National competitions, such as Superleague and Russian Cup, and international club competitions, like European Champions league and the World Club Championship in Doha. On the 29th of September Zenit will meet their old rival Lokomotiv in a fight for the Russian Supercup.

Maxim also leads an active social life: last month together with his teammates he visited an orphanage, attended a meeting with Kazan’s students and has become a Universiade 2013 ambassador.

We wish Maxim and team Zenit good luck in the new season! Find out how he’s doing in Russian Superleague and international club competitions on FIVBheroes.com!
