By clinching the Turkish league title, the FIVB Heroes Jovana Brakocevic and Saori Kimura have completed the club season unbeaten.
In a fitting finish toi the end of the club season, yesterday, together with their teammates from Vakifbank Istanbul, they raised their third cup, winning the Turkish League championship.
Their record is impressive – 47 victories and no defeats in 2012/2013. After the first place in CEV’s Champions League, as well as in the Turkish Cup, they closed the final of the Turkish League against Eczacibasi VitrA – fellow FIVB Hero Neslihan Darnel’s team – in 3 matches to celebrate another title.
And the season has been especially astounding for the Serbian FIVB Hero Jovana Brakocevic. After being named MVP in the Champions League, she won the Best Scorer Award of the Turkish League. Jovana was one of Vakifbank’s most important players in the final series. Yesterday she scored 29 points, including 5 aces, in the 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 19-25, 25-20) victory that gave Vakifbank the championship.
On the other side of the net, FIVB Hero and turkish star Neslihan Darnel fought hard, but could not defend the national title she took last season. She was the best scorer of Eczacibasi, adding 63 points (including 23 in the last game) in the three final matches.
For our other FIVB Heroes in Turkey, Simona Gioli and Yeon-Koung Kim, the season ended with the third and fourth place, respectively. For all Turkish league playoffs results and statistics you can access the Turkish Federation site.
Congratulations to Vakifbank and FIVB Heroes Jovana Brakocevic and Saori Kimura for an amazing season!
